A futuristic neon display inside the China Watermelon Museum, the world's only museum dedicated to watermelons, in the Panggezhuang township near Beijing city, China. Visitors are treated to 4000 square metres of exhibits about the juicy fruit. The futuristic museum, which is moulded in the shape of a melon, is filled with pictures of people eating watermelons, books about watermelons, comics about watermelons but sadly no watermelons. All of the watermelons inside the museum are actually made out of wax. This is because watermelons are fresh produce and rotting exhibits is something most museums wants to avoid. افتتحت الصين أول متحف لثمرة البطيخ من أجل بث روح حب ثمرة البطيخ في النفوس وإدخال السعادة لقلوب محبي تلك الثمرة.
وبالرغم من أن المتحف المقام بمدينة بكين يضم قصصا مصورة عن نشأة البطيخ وطرق زراعته بالصين على مر العصور إلا أنه لا يحتوي على بطيخ حقيقي، حيث إن جميع النماذج المعروضة مصنوعة من البلاستيك والشمع لإن ثمرة البطيخ سريعة التعفن، والقائمين على المعرض يريدون جذب الزوار لا تنفيرهم من المكان ، بحسب شبكة mz-mz.
يروي المعرض أيضا بعض القصص الأسطورية التي ارتبطت بالبطيخ، ويعرض صورا كاريكاتيرية لآكلي البطيخ ومحبيه، ويطوف الزائرون بمساحة 4 آلاف متر مربع عبر المتحف.
